Colorado St. Hurricane Forecasting Team Bumps Up Expected Number Of Storms

BE READY: STORMWATCH 2014

A slower than expected development of an El Niño event along with warm waters in the tropical Atlantic has led the Colorado State hurricane forecasting team to bump up by one the number of named storms they expect to develop this hurricane season.

The revised forecast released Monday now calls for 10 named storms instead of 9, with 4 storms possibly becoming hurricanes instead of 3. The number of major storms - those category 3 or higher - remains at just one.

The new forecast still calls for a below-average Atlantic hurricane season in terms of activity.
