A Tangipahoa Parish Jail escapee was captured in Mississippi Monday.

20 year old Verdale Anthony Moore escaped late Sunday evening. Moore was being held on a first degree murder charge in the shooting death of 37 year old Sandra Butler of Independence, sheriff's office spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto said.

Moore was arrested on February 4, 2014, and was awaiting trial when he escaped.

Detectives found Moore in a private residence in Osyka, MS.

He was taken into custody without incident to the Pike County Jail and will be held there awaiting extradition.

The Sheriff's Office will give more details on Moore's capture at a press conference Tuesday morning.
