Reserve Couple Convicted In Child Beating Death

A Reserve couple has been convicted in the 2008 beating death of an 8-year-old boy.

After 8 days of testimony, a jury found 48-year-old Errol Victor guilty of second-degree murder and 40-year-old Tonya Victor guilty of manslaughter in the death of Tonya Victor's 8-year-old son, M.L. Lloyd, III.

Prosecutors claim that the boy was severely whipped and beaten before his parents took him to a hospital in Laplace where he was pronounced dead on April 1, 2008.

Doctors said the boy's body was covered with extensive bruises and that he died from trauma.

Attorney General Caldwell said, “Our office has pursued justice for this innocent child’s death for several years and we are extremely pleased with the jury’s verdict.”

The Victors are due back in court on Aug. 18th for pre-sentencing motions in the 40th Judicial District Court.

"We are hopeful they will both spend the rest of their lives in prison,” said Caldwell.
