New turf has been installed, the roof has been pressure washed and the parking areas have been striped. The Mercedes-Benz Superdome is ready for some Saints football.
"We're excited about football season, we're excited obviously about the Saints' season and we're ready to welcome them home," says Rick Zeller, the Dome's Communications Manager.
As the Saints get ready to host the Tennessee Titans Friday night at 7pm, Zeller reminds fans the NFL's bag policy and security procedures from last season will be in place this season.
Metal-detecting wands will be used at all entrances of the Dome and Champions Square.
Fans can bring bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 12" x 6". Small clutch bags approximately the size of a hand are allowed, but they can't exceed 6.5" x 4.5". A list of prohibited items is posted on the Superdome's web site.
Champions Square will open at 4pm with pregame entertainment.
"The entertainment is a local band called 'Louisiana Spice', and it of course will open up at 4 o'clock, and there will be food and beverage and food trucks throughout the square," Zeller said.
The Dome will open at 5pm, and fans are advised to arrive early.
